Individual Therapy
For adults who want to feel steadier, clearer, and more like themselves.
Maybe you’ve been managing for a long time, holding things together on the outside while something underneath hasn’t felt right. Maybe anxiety has been a constant companion. Maybe you’ve been moving through grief, or depression, or a season of life that’s left you feeling lost. Or maybe you grew up without the kind of consistent care that would have made things easier, and you’re still feeling the effects of that, even if you’ve never quite named it that way.
Individual therapy is a space to get real about what’s going on, at a pace that lets things truly land. We work toward a steadiness that you can feel, not just understand.
What we work on together
People come to individual therapy for all kinds of reasons. Some arrive in the middle of a crisis. Others have been quietly struggling for years. Whatever brings you here, what matters is that we start from where you actually are.
Common areas of focus include:
- Anxiety and stress that won't let up
- Depression, low mood, or a persistent sense of emptiness
- Grief and loss
- Difficulty in relationships, at home, at work, or with yourself
- Patterns that keep repeating, even when you know better
- The lasting impact of childhood trauma
- Life transitions and the disorientation they can bring
"You don't need to know how to explain it yet. That's what we figure out together."
What Brings People to Individual Therapy?
You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to reach out. Most people come in feeling stuck, emotionally drained, or unsure where to begin. That’s completely okay.
Here are some of the reasons people start individual therapy with me:
- Ongoing anxiety, stress, or burnout
- Feelings of depression, hopelessness, or numbness
- Anger or frustration that feels out of control
- Challenges with addiction, avoidance, or shame
- Relationship struggles, whether in dating, marriage, or with family
- Feeling lost, disconnected, or unsure of who you are anymore
- Wanting to understand yourself more deeply, beyond just coping
- Long-standing emotional patterns that may relate to unprocessed trauma, even if there’s no “big event” to point to
- Chronic emotional, physical, or relational overwhelm that doesn't fit neatly into one diagnosis
How I Work
A collaborative, thoughtful approach to healing.
The work we do together is built around what you need, what you’re feeling, and how you experience your world. I take an integrative approach, pulling from different models and tools depending on what fits best for you.
Some of the main frameworks I draw from in individual therapy include:
-
IFS (Internal Family Systems)
- Exploring the different parts of you (the angry part, the avoidant part, the people-pleasing part) and helping those parts feel heard, not judged -
Psychodynamic Therapy
– Understanding how past relationships and patterns may still be shaping your life today -
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
- Using mindfulness and acceptance to help you stay grounded and respond with clarity, not just reaction -
Somatic awareness
- Learning to recognize how emotions live in your body, and how to feel safer in your own skin -
Narrative therapy
– Seeing our sessions as an ongoing conversation with your inner world, using language and presence to access both cognitive and somatic experiences -
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
– supporting you in becoming more present, less reactive, and more attuned to what really matters
I don’t see these as separate tools. I see them as different languages describing aspects of the same thing: the psyche. Depending on the rhythm of our conversation and what’s emerging for you, I’ll shift between them naturally.
The process follows the language of your experience, not a manual. And that’s what makes it real.
What matters most is that the process feels human, not clinical, not distant, not prescriptive.
We talk. We listen. We make space. And over time, things shift.
What You Can Expect from Therapy
Therapy with me is not about becoming someone else. It’s about reconnecting with the version of you that’s been there all along, the one that’s been trying, surviving, and holding on.
In our work together, you might:
- Understand your emotions more clearly and respond to them with less shame
- Break out of painful cycles and patterns
- Feel less overwhelmed, more steady
- Heal from past wounds without having to relive every moment
- Begin to feel more at home in your body and your life
- Recognize and relate differently to patterns rooted in childhood or developmental trauma
- Find language for the parts of yourself that never had the space to speak before
This isn’t a quick fix. But it is a space to breathe, reflect, and slowly build something more honest and freeing, from the inside out.
My approach draws from several therapeutic traditions, including parts work, relational therapy, and body-awareness practices. But what matters more than any particular method is that we find what genuinely works for you. I’m constantly listening for what resonates and what doesn’t, and adjusting as we go.
If you’re wondering whether this might help, the best next step is a brief, no-pressure conversation
